We have been making wine at our winery for 120 years. This is not actually such a long time if you consider that this alluvial land squeezed between two majestic porphyry rock faces was already cultivated in Roman times. Excavations proved that ther is a long history of wine growing in this hilly region.
The Lentsch family was in fact once connected to porphyry mining and commerce. In 1882 shortly after, the Lentsch brothers purchased the "Adlerhof" farm along with the "Zum schwarzen Adler" inn and Hartmann, one of the brothers began to prduce the wine served in the tavern, himself. Several generations since the have passed on their liking for wine and fruit growing.
